Authorities in the northern eThekwini region are actively searching for a suspect in his twenties after he allegedly stabbed both his girlfriend and mother, while also assaulting other family members during a weekend altercation. The incident prompted multiple distress calls, leading Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), a private security company, to swiftly respond to Mgabadeli Road in Phase 6, Waterloo.

According to Rusa, community members reported that two females, identified as the suspect's mother and girlfriend, were taken to the hospital for medical treatment after sustaining stab wounds. A witness, speaking to Rusa, revealed that the violent altercation erupted over an infidelity dispute between the suspect and his girlfriend at her residence. In the course of the argument, the suspect reportedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his girlfriend before forcibly taking her to his mother's house.

During the ongoing confrontation, the suspect allegedly continued stabbing the female, leading his mother to intervene. The knife used in the attack broke during the altercation, prompting the enraged male to break a glass bottle and stab his mother in the arm, as reported by Rusa.

Additional allegations suggest that the suspect assaulted his 76-year-old grandmother and wheelchair-bound uncle when they tried to intervene in the dispute. Following the violent episode, the man damaged all the windows before fleeing the scene on foot, according to Rusa.

As of Monday, the suspect remains at large, and Prem Balram from Rusa confirmed that efforts to locate him have been unsuccessful.
