In a thrilling match in Cairo on Tuesday, Mamelodi Sundowns secured a crucial 1-0 away win against Pyramids, maintaining their aspirations for a second CAF Champions League title. The decisive moment came from a trademark Teboho Mokoena thunderbolt goal.

The Brazilians dominated the game, and although Pyramids nearly equalized in the final play, with Aly Mossad heading inches wide, Sundowns emerged as deserved victors. The tight contest saw no clear scoring chances for either side in the second half.

Sundowns took the lead at halftime, with Mokoena's impressive goal just two minutes after an attempt by captain Themba Zwane. Despite losing Mokoena to injury later in the half, Sundowns continued to press forward, with chances from players like Marcelo Allende and Peter Shalulile.

The match showcased Sundowns' defensive prowess, including a vital block by Grant Kekana and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams denying Pyramids' attempts, including a header from Fiston Mayele.

With this win, Sundowns now stand at seven points after four matches, tied with TP Mazembe, who beat Nouadhiou 2-0. The victory positions Sundowns well as they head into the final two matches after the Africa Cup of Nations finals break, aiming for success in the knockout phase and seeking their second Champions League title.
